This book is going to save lives.
If our lives are the only book someone reads what will they see? Would the reader see the hand of God or the futility of man? Kevin’s life has been set to print for all to see. Yet this is not simply an account of a wasted life. It’s about God’s grace and mercy, a testimony to His forgiveness, reconciliation and restoration. Kevin took his life to the depths of despair and made it back alive (burnt, beat and bloodied). Now he shares the Biblical insights and divine truths that brought victory and healing.
This book is desperately needed in today’s wicked and perverse world. Violence, drug abuse and sexual perversion headline the news. The Church is not immune. Reports of Christian men and women falling victim to sexual sin are epidemic. It affects all of us. Lives are being destroyed. Marriages are failing. Families are crushed. Children are being robbed of their innocence. All the while believers do nothing. It’s as though the church is blind to the holocaust. We don't want to know that the person next to us is secretly struggling. Most believers live in the shadows, hiding in fear that their secret sin may be discovered.
The Bible says Christians should be open and honest with one another. They are to ask for forgiveness, pray for each other, counsel one another and be accountable to each another. Church should be a place where believers deal with sin and work out their salvation. Yet sex is rarely discussed. It’s a sensitive and embarrassing topic. Sex is a powerful force. It has great potential for blessing and for harm. Understand this, God created sex. Every believer has, has had or will have sexual thoughts and desires. God wants His children to enjoy healthy sexual relations within the secure boundaries of His Word. However every believer’s thoughts, desires and actions will at some point violate God’s standards (sin).
All too frequently I've witnessed pastors and Church leaders who struggle with sexual sin quickly discarded by the Church without any possibility of reconciliation or restoration. Church leaders are not immune to temptation. Pastors are above all sinners saved by God’s grace. Forgiveness is just as available to Church leaders as it is to all of God’s children. When a leader is cast aside all it does is cause others struggling to draw further into the darkness. Seeing others treated without mercy they recoil in fear that their sin will be discovered. Consequently the sinful cycle is perpetuated and God’s children live hopeless secret lives. The Bible makes it clear that we are all sinners in need of God’s forgiveness. Silence is our enemy. It keeps us in bondage, strains our relationship with God and limits our fellowship with other believers. Not until we walk in the light will we enjoy the fullness of being God’s children.
Extremes characterize Kevin’s life. No one I know has traveled to the depths of despair as Kevin has and made it back. I have known Kevin since 1985 and I've witnessed his struggle with sin and been privileged to be a part of God’s reconciliation and restoration in his life. Kevin is a precious brother in the Lord and a man of God. I'm honored to count him as one of my most trusted and close personal friends. This book isn't just about sex or Kevin’s sin. God has equipped Kevin with Biblical wisdom and the ability to communicate spiritual truth. Consequently this book is full of Biblical teaching on numerous subjects critical for believers today. It contains valuable insight on parenting, marriage, leadership, church discipline, fundamentals of Christianity and much more. Most important it’s a book about God’s love and just how far He will go to redeem His children.
Every believer should read this book. I admit I’m biased. But I’m thoroughly convinced that this book is going to save lives! Do you want to overcome sin in your life? Read this book. Do you want to help others overcome sin in their lives? Read this book. Do you want to see a dramatic example of Gods love? Read this book. Church leader? Pastor? Parent? Husband? Wife? Friend? Read this book!
My prayer is that through this book you discover God’s love and experience the wonder of His Word. May you receive with great joy the hope of God’s love, grace and redemption and if needed His restoration. Furthermore I pray that God will reveal to you the truth of Romans 11:29 “For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” No one has fallen so far that they cannot be restored. Always remember, you’re here now.
May God bless your socks off.
